Traynor Bassmaster And Bishop Morocco Bassist, James Sayce
James Sayce, bassist for Canadian band, Bishop Morocco, loves SVT bass amps. He loves them in the studio, that is.
"SVT amps are fantastic if you have a tech on hand, or if you're recording, but I generally look for a tube amp that is also reliable." he says.
One of his primary criterion for an am is that it doesn't cause any trouble when out on tour in Kansas. To this end, Sayce places a Traynor Bassmaster
"It is totally dependable. Traynors never blow up," says Sayce. "It is also quite compact and breaks up really nicely. It is a tube amp. I prefer tube amps. I think they sound much better."
He plays a 1979 Fender Precision Special bass.
"It sounds really fantastic (in my opinion), but it just feels right," he says. "I'm not a huge tone kind of guy, I'm generally drawn to what feels good while I play it."
Sayce doesn't necessarily think the Traynor Bassmaster is for every bassist though.
"I don't think that bass-jocks are going to love this amp because it is more of a "warmer" tone, which causes you to lose definition," he says. "Generally those playing with a lot of 'feel' will like it."
