T-Rex Tonebug Overdrive, T-Rex Tonebug Reverb: Look Like Soap, Won't Clean Out Your Wallet

T-Rex Tonebug Overdrive, T-Rex Tonebug Reverb

The Dutch Danish Masters of guitar effects know as T-Rex will be making a respectable showing at Winter NAMM 2009 with the introduction of their new Tonebug line. While no prices have been announced as of yet, according to the T-Rex press release the Tonebug series will be "simple, easy, sturdy, good looking, good sounding and great value for money (sic)." All signs point to "budget-boutique," we're assuming.

The line will debut with two effects that every guitarist should have in their arsenal; indeed, most guitarists might have these effects already built into their amp: the T-Rex Tonebug Reverb and the Tonebug Overdrive.

T-Rex Tonebug Overdrive features a simple layout and controls that will be familiar to any guitarist who's ever stomped a box: Gain, Tone and Volume. "What sets ToneBug Overdrive apart from other pedals out there," says T-Rex, "is this: legendary T-Rex tone." Big words, T-Rex, but then again, they did call themselves "Terrible Tyrant" Engineering. So, you know.

The other pedal to be introduced is the T-Rex Tonebug Reverb, again, a super-simple effect that promises to "to bring dry, flat-sounding, bedroom-bound guitar playing to life." You hear me, Robert Fripp? Your tone is so dry on Discipline it's Frippin' boring! The pedal features simple controls, but does sport a neat mode switch that goes from a "modern-sounding" -- we're assuming "digital" -- reverb to a vintage, spring-sounding reverb.

Video demos of both pedals are on the T-Rex website, but the rest of the world will have to wait until January to actually get our hands on the things.

People from Denmark = Danish, not Dutch. I knew this, I swear. I think I got hung up on the "Dutch Masters" joke. Shame on me.
