T-Rex Twister Effects Pedal: The Love Child Of Marc Bolan And Bill Paxton
Explaining the difference between the chorus effect and the flanging effect can be difficult. Both effects result from the phase-delaying of two identical signals, and varying the time of the phase delay in a regular cycle. From there, however, the conversation gets a little, umm, obtuse (and we're not even talking about the "phasing" effect, yet). The best way to experience the difference is with the T-Rex Twister pedal.
With the simple tap of a button, the T-Rex twister can produce either a chorusing effect OR a flanging effect, both from the same basic circuit. As the guys from T-Rex explain. "Well you're dirty and sweet, clad in black, don't look back, and I love you; you're dirty and sweet, oh yeah," which we take to mean that they had originally intended to build a simple chorus pedal, but Glenda and some old guy in a hot air balloon convinced them to build a flanger out of the box as well.
If the pedal's function as an elucidating comparative example wasn't enough of a selling point, the T-Rex fellows put together a list of additional features for consideration:
Why should you buy this baby?
- It is probably one of the best chorus and flangers on the market
- The sound is very analogue, rich and full filling
- Goes from slow rotating sounds, to fast vibrant sparkle
- It switches between light airy effect - to heavy drastic chorus/flanger
- Price is fair. Good value for money.
- Input level is adjustable, to prevent overdrive
- It has wondeful (sic) stereo output, which makes it sound even greater
- It's built like a tank and T-Rex grants a 2 year warranty
Controls include chorus / flanger switch, depth, regen, tone, rate, heavy / light switch and level. The unit runs off 9v battery or power supply.
