T-Rex Effects Octavius Tri-Tone Generator Pedal Debuts
In addition to the Mudhoney II, T-Rex Effects announced the Octavius, yet another new pedal for the company's distortion / overdrive and modulation pedal lineup.
The Octavius is the company's take on the powerful, sometimes unusual octave divider effect that guitarist Jimi Hendrix experimented with. You can use the Octavius to get the classic octave-down effect recognizable from Hendrix’s "Machine Gun" and other recordings, or use the new pedal to add in a high octave and hit your listeners with a wall of three-octave lead lines. In addition, you can mix the octaves to create your own signature sound, or lift solos above a mix by hitting the pedal's controllable Boost button.
The T-Rex Effects Octavius was designed to provide a warm vintage-sounding octave-down and octave-up effect that can be adjusted with the Lo Oct, High Oct, Master Mix, and Boost knobs. Also known as the tri-tone generator pedal, the Octavius features an On / Off footswitch and a Boost footswitch as well.
The Lo Oct knob lets you set the volume of the lower octave signal produced by the pedal, while the High Oct knob controls the volume of the higher octave signal produced by the pedal; the balance between the levels of these two knobs is what creates your particular octave-divided sound.
Likewise, the Master Mix knob lets you set the overall volume of your low and high octaves compared to your direct signal. Use the Boost knob to control the output of your octave-divided sound; the Boost function lets you dial in a solo level, whether the overdrive circuit is activated or not.
According to T-Rex, the Octavius is a tri-tone generator with a perfect set of controls and a brilliant Boost function that provides everything you could want in octave generation.
