TRX Grilles Cymbals, Conversely, Be All Up In Your Kit
Feeling uninspired by your current cymbal collection? Why not get a f*%@g TRX Grille for your kit, man?
The new TRX Grille series sport precision-punched "vents" in "T," "R," and "X" letter-shapes that affect the vibrational resonance of the cymbal as well as the way they vacillate when struck. The resultant tone, as TRX describes, is somewhere between the focus of a traditional crash and the trashiness of a china cymbal.
While other "vented" cymbals exist on the market, TRX says that the unique tone of the Grilles was a bit of a happy accident:
"Although the letter shapes were originally intended to produce both a visual and a tonal effect, the irregular shapes proved to have a greater impact on the cymbal's sound than standard circular and oval holes — creating a shorter, nastier, more complex and intense tone than other venting methods."
The TRX Grilles come in 16", 18", and 20" sizes that will street for $350, $400, and $450 UDS, respectively.
