Ueberschall Urbanic II: Figuratively Massive Hip Hop Loop Collection
Wenzel from Ueberschall has some new for all you haters: Hip Hop Loop Collections ain't dead, they jus' restin' . . . least they wuz; now they back wid a vengeance in the massive Uesberchall Urbanic II, the sequel to the biggest Hip Hop Loop Collection to ever come out of Hanover.
When Ueberschall says "massive," they mean massive, but not in the way that London Northsiders mean "gang." Nor do they mean the literal meaning of "massive," which is "an object with a lot of mass." Urbanic II has no physical mass, per se, so what Ueberschall actually means is that the Urbanic II Hip Hop II sample library will take up a lot of memory . . . except that's got some negative connotations, so why would they say it that way? Let me say it this way: this sample collection is over 3.8GB, compiling 30 Construction Kits, each kit containing three sub-kits and hundreds of samples.
Each construction kit is organized thusly:
- Main Kit -- Includes the main theme, sounds and phrases
- Variation Kit -- Provides an alternative track and phrases which are used to add contrast to the main theme
- Intro/Outro Kit -- Here you can find the matching intro/outro track for the overall kit, along with it's individual parts
- Drum Shots -- The single-shots are centralized in this folder, making it easy to find all percussive sounds used to make the kit.
To make browsing even easier, every sample on Urbanic II is labeled with BPM and root key (key signature) information.
And how does it sound? I could tell you that the loops and samples on Urbanic II were built by Beneluxus, Drastic and Marc Steinmeier, a team that has worked, produced and remixed for LL Cool J, Bootsy Collins, Alica Keys, DJ Tomekk, Eminem and others, or I could just tell you to go tpo Ueberschall's website and find out for yourself.
