New from Ultrasone Inc. is the HFI-2400 ($329 MSRP), the company's flagship HFI headphone.

The open-backed HFI-2400 features a 40 mm gold-plated driver with S-Logic technology for an airy, natural sound. According to the manufacturer, S-Logic makes you feel like you're present at a live concert; at the same time, it reduces sound pressure by approximately 3-4 dB and lessens the strain on your eardrum, making you feel like you're not at a live concert. Another notable feature is MU Metal shielding, which reduces the amount of magnetic radiation emitted from standard headphones by 98 percent.

Each pair comes with a removable three-meter long, straight cable with 6.3 mm gold-plated stereo plug, a velvet carrying bag, and the Ultrasone demo CD. All this talk about gold and velvet reassures us that with the HFI-2400, Ultrasone meets industry standards of both quality sound and bling.

The company expects to ship these HFI-Series headphones sometime in the Fall of 2009.
