Veillette Guitars Concorde: Acoustic-Looking Basses Introduced
Expanding its range of high-end basses, Veillette Guitars announced the new Concorde semi-hollow bass, which is said to have the most "acoustic" look, feel, and tone of any of Veillette basses to date.
The Concorde bass has a 14-inch wide body that is heavily chambered, with dual soundholes and a radiused spruce top. The curved face allows for a deeper body in the center and a thinner, more comfortable edge.
A single passive Citron pickup and a ToneStyler passive tone control deliver full, clear, and articulate tone, with lots of low-end "bloom" and depth, while an acoustic contour makes the instrument responsive to plucking position and right-hand technique. According to the manufacturer, this chameleon of a bass has more tones than any other single-pickup bass you've ever heard, with no batteries, no fuss, and nothing extra.
The one-piece height-adjustable bridge is handmade from wood to match the fingerboard, and it features an ebony bridge saddle. The new Concorde is available in 4-, 5-, or 6-string models, fretted or fretless, with a wide range of pickup, control, color, and other options. Available colors include Natural, Light Amber, Tobacco Burst, Honey Walnut, Deep Red, Blue, Smoke, and Black. As for wood, Concorde basses are available with Spruce, Plain Maple, Flame Maple, Quilt Maple, Figured Walnut, and Myrtle.
Concorde options:
- Black or gold hardware
- Ebony or Pau Ferro fingerboard and tailpiece
- Exotic wood tops (as available)
- Left-handed (no extra charge)
- Lined or unlined fretless (bass)
- Extra-light tuning machines
- Custom nut widths
- Custom scale lengths and tuning configurations
- Onboard tri-color tuner
- Added magnetic pickup(s), custom wiring
- Burst-style stains (single or dual color)
Veillette notes that the Concorde embodies the best of vintage and classic semi-hollowbody basses, combined with modern construction, total fret access, and the best passive components. Pricing for the Concorde Bass starts at $3,740 (MSRP).
