Vermona Filter Lancet Multi-Mode Filter, Vermona VSR-3 Vintage Spring Reverb Now Shipping

June 23, 2011
Vermona released its Filter Lancet multi-mode filter and VSR-3 vintage spring reverb hardware effect units.

All is well with Vermona, the manufacturer of analog synths and hardware effects, as it has just announced the availability of the Filter Lancet multi-mode filter and the VSR-3 vintage spring reverb.

Filter Lancet is a compact, desktop standalone multimode filter with VCA, envelope generator, envelope follower, and LFO. According to Vermona, the Filter Lancet is the right weapon against static sound and boredom.

The filter section itself has three modes --Lowpass, Highpass, and Bandpass -- the last of which works with a slope of 12 dB per octave, whereas the Lowpass and Highpass are 24 dB filters. Using the Balls knob, a feature borrowed from the Vermona Kick Lancet, you can give the filter some extra punch, or rather, give it some balls. The knob pushes low and high frequencies of the signal before being filtered; the resonance is self-oscillating.

In addition, the Filter Lancet is equipped with an LFO, an envelope generator, an envelope follower, and a CV pedal input. The LFO has two frequency ranges and goes up to 250 Hz. Meanwhile, at low frequencies the LFO can be re-triggered by gate- or audio signals. It features sample and hold, plus five waveforms: saw up and saw down, square, sine, and triangle.

The envelope generator can be triggered by the input signal or an additional audio signal as well as by a gate voltage. If triggering it via gate it works as an attack-sustain-release envelope. Likewise, the envelope follower transforms the contour of the input signal into control voltages that can serve as modulation source. As Vermona notes, LFO modulation intensity can be set separately from modulation intensity of envelope generator and envelope follower on the VCF- as well as on the VCA section.

Another notable feature is the drive circuit in the input section, which adds subtle shades of overdrive up to solid distortion. Designed for stringed instruments, the Filter Lancet can create standard effects like wah wah and tremolo, along with a host of other effects.

The new VSR-3 is a 1U / 19-inch spring reverb for use on just about anything -- organs, synthesizers, acoustic and electric guitars, vocals, (electronic) drums, you name it. According to the manufacturer, the VSR-3 always adds that clashing and resonant yet musically and warm reverb sound.

Like the ReTubeVerb, the VSR-3 uses a spring tank made by specialist Accutronics. The reverb signal can be refined by a well-adjusted tone controller and seamlessly added to the unaffected original signal. And thanks to the shielded, internal switching power supply, the VSR-3 is guaranteed to work smoothly anywhere.

Both new units are now available from authorized Vermona dealers. For more information, visit vermona.com.
