VertexDSP vxPlug: One Window To Rule Them All

December 20, 2007
VertexDSP vxPlug

Vertex DSP develops vxPlug, a software used to control plug-ins in a multitrack setup from a single editor window. vxPlug has the ability to load VST plug-ins within a host for not only control, but flexible definition of points where audio processing takes place.

The vxPlug is composed of two plug-ins: vxPlugControl and vxPlugClient. The former loads VST plug-ins and controls their parameters. It also supports host parameter automation.

The latter, vxPlugClient, determines the point of processing audio within the host application. Every instance of vxPlugClient can send and recieve audio data to and from vxPlugControl. It is then within vxPlugControl that the data is routed to the plug-ins that have been loaded. Up to 16 instances of vxPlugControl and 128 of vxPlugClient can be used.

Vertex DSP's Examples of Usage

  • Use your favorite track EQs during mixing while controlling the EQs from one single user interface. To measure the results in realtime, MultiInspector will be of great help. vxPlug in combination with MultiInspector works like an advanced multitrack EQ with spectrum analyzer.
  • Check audio effects at different points in the effect chain of the host application by simply switching the audio connection in vxPlugControl. No effect unloading and reloading needed.
  • Setup measurement points in the effect chain and switch between them.
