Vox Amplification AC4TVmini Now Shipping: All-Tube Mini Amplifier Released
Need a little amp to take to jam sessions and rehearsals? If you do, check out the newly released AC4TVmini from Vox Amplification, which is now shipping.
The AC4TVmini is a portable, all-tube practice amplifier that is based on the Vox AC4 from the 1960s, but made modern with a premium transformer and select components.
The updated, Class-A AC4TVmini keeps the original version's EL84 power tube and also features a 12AX7 preamp tube and an original Vox design 6.5-inch speaker. Control settings include volume and tone; adjusting the volume and tone settings can create a broad range of tones, according to the manufacturer, from a sweet, clean sound to the distinctive Vox overdrive sound. While the AC4TVmini borrows its tube-driven power from the Vox AC4, the new amp gets its retro "TV" front styling from the 1958 AC15.
The new practice amp's attenuator switch allows the output power to be set at up to 4W -- a convenient and ear-saving feature that allows the AC4TVmini to create a real distortion even at the lowest power setting. An external speaker jack is also provided for connecting to your choice of cabinet. The AC4TVmini is lightweight (about 13.5 pounds) and compact, ideal for taking along to practice rooms, rehearsals, jams, hotel rooms, or any playing situation where space is limited.
