Vox AGA150 Two-Channel Acoustic Guitar Amp Now Shipping
Attention acoustic guitarists: Vox Amplification is now shipping the two-channel AGA150 acoustic guitar amplifier, the latest amp to join the AGA70 in the same series.
The AGA150 delivers twice the power of the AGA70 -- as its name implies, the AGA150 offers 150W, versus the other Vox amp's 70W -- in addition to including an extra 1-inch soft-dome tweeter for a more refined high end. The new AGA150 is a compact and efficient power amp designed in conjunction with Bang & Olufsen ICEpower a/s, to produce a clean and powerful sound, according to the manufacturer.
Going further, the two-channel amp sports a Normal channel and a Tube Pre channel, along with a 12AU7 dual triode vacuum tube. Each channel is equipped with a standard guitar input, a microphone input with selectable phantom power, and a host of effects. The Chorus effect is selectable via a switch, while Reverb can be added in any amount using the Reverb knob.
The AGA150 can accommodate singer-guitarists, since an electro-acoustic guitar or a microphone can be connected to each channel. What's more, an additional Lo-Z / Hi-Z switch on each input accommodates a variety of signal levels. You can use the traditional Bass, Middle, and Treble EQ controls to fine-tune tones, or adjust the Color knob to quickly shift the overall tone during a performance. To help you sound your best during sets, the Tuner output is always active even when the main output is muted, for silent tuning between songs.
Vox's new AGA150 is useful in other ways as well. Its Anti-Feedback control minimizes acoustic feedback, allowing the amp to be used as an effective stage monitor. Equipped with a DI (balanced XLR) output, the AGA150 can also send the sound to a larger PA system without requiring a direct box. According to Vox, this output is also ideal for recording, using the AGA150 as a tube-driven preamplifier. Stereo line inputs can accept the signal from a keyboard or other musical instrument, and an MP3 player (or other audio source) can be connected to the AUX input for jam sessions.
The Vox AGA150 is now shipping for $750. For more details, please visit voxamps.com.
