Vox Amplification ToneLab EX Joins Valvetronix Pedal Line
Built for the live performer, the new Vox Amplification ToneLab EX pedal is the latest to join the ToneLab line of Valvetronix modeling pedals, offering more presets and more effects than previous models.
The ToneLab EX introduces a number of new features designed to satisfy the needs of the live performer. It has 200 ready-to-play programs (100 user programmable, 100 preset), 50 Song Presets (each one created to capture the signature guitar tone of a well-known song), 45 effects, 33 amp models, and much more.
Like all Valvetronix Series models, the ToneLab EX uses a 12AX7 vacuum tube (valve) to capture the tone quality of a tube-driven amplifier. In addition to 33 amp models, the ToneLab EX also provides accurate simulations of 11 speaker cabinets. You can mix and match the cabinet and amp models to suit your needs.
A total of 45 effects are provided: 11 distortions, 15 classic stompbox effects, 11 modulation types, 4 delay types including Tap Tempo, and 3 reverb types and noise reduction. New to the ToneLab EX are the 11 distortions, which can be used in place of amp modeling to drive the front of your amplifier. Up to nine effects can be used simultaneously (when including Noise Reduction and Expression Pedal).
The ToneLab EX also includes a built-in chromatic tuner with both normal and strobe modes for easy viewing during performance, plus the "Stomp-Box" mode, where the individual effects can be turned on and off using the footswitch controls, just as on a custom pedalboard.
According to Vox, the multi-function output provides the best response in almost any amplification situation. Set to the Amp Mode, the output offers three settings to suit some of the most popular amplifier types. Likewise, when set to the Line Mode, a three-band Total Equalizer allows the tone to be matched to any venue or sound system. The Line In is available for jamming along to CDs, MP3s, and so forth.
A personal monitoring system allows for backstage tweaking, editing, rehearsing, and programming without the need for any additional amps or equipment. For private use, a headphone jack is also provided. Finally, the pedal has a USB port, which allows for a convenient single cable audio connection to a computer's digital recording software.
Vox plans on releasing the Vox ToneLab EX in February, 2011 for $500 (MSRP). For more information, please visit voxamps.com.

Tonelab EX
This is the best multi-effect on the market for playing live.
The sound is superb and very analoog
I have it now for about 3 weeks and cannot stop playing with it.
Sounds great over tube amps (even my old sovtek lives up),
Its the first one with real sounding overdrive/distortion
There is no editor for on the PC , only a librarian.
It looks easy to use , but you have read the manual to get the right sound into your amp.
I have used and tried several devices from Roland, Boss Zoom and line6 but this is the best.
The ToneLab EX
The intuitive Stomp Box mode places six effects on a virtual pedal-board at your feet, with real stomp-box control. The ToneLab EX is the perfect live-performance solution for any guitarist's multi-effect needs.
