Vox Amplification Joe Satriani AmPlug: Headphone Guitar Amp With Satriani's Signature Distortion And Delay

September 01, 2010
Vox Amplification Joe Satriani AmPlug is a headphone guitar amplifier featuring sounds from Joe Satriani's guitar effect pedals.

AmPlug headphone guitar amps now bear Joe Satriani's signature tones and his real signature -- Vox Amplification has announced the Joe Satriani signature model amPlug headphone guitar amplifier.

The bright red Joe Satriani amPlug borrows sounds from the Vox / Joe Satriani series of signature effect pedals. Palm-sized and admittedly "cute," the new headphone guitar amp makes it easy for guitarists or bassists to get effects and tones on the go.

The Joe Satriani amPlug delivers the sound of Satriani’s custom rig -- distortion pedal through a high-gain tube amplifier, followed by a delay -- and is reported to reproduce the settings created by Satriani himself. Inspired by the distortion circuitry of the Vox / Joe Satriani Satchurator pedal, the amPlug Joe Satriani preserves your "pick attack" to create an articulate, melodic, and playable distortion, according to Vox.

Borrowed from the analog-style "Lo-Fi mode" of the Vox / Joe Satriani Time Machine delay pedal, the amPlug's delay features Satriani’s distinctive EQ settings, combining both highpass and lowpass filters. Activate the delay by flipping a switch. An optional amPlug Cabinet (sold separately) can be accommodated to create a miniature amp stack.

The unit's AUX input jack allows you to plug in your CD or MP3 player to the amPlug and then jam along with your choice of music. The battery-powered Joe Satriani amPlug has up to 11 hours of battery life.

Joe Satriani amPlug features:

  • Borrows features from the Satriani Satchurator pedal and Time Machine delay pedal
  • Offers sounds from Satriani's custom rig, a distortion pedal through a high-gain tube amplifier followed by a delay
  • Preserves "pick attack" to create an articulate, melodic, and playable distortion
  • Delay offers Satriani’s EQ settings, combining both highpass and lowpass filters
  • AUX input jack for plugging in CD or MP3 players

To use the new amPlug and get Joe Satriani's signature tone, just plug the amPlug Joe Satriani directly into an electric guitar, connect your headphones, and then start playing.

Vox Amplification plans on shipping the Joe Satriani amPlug in November of 2010 for $49.99 (MSRP). For more information about the upcoming release, please visit Vox's Web site at voxamps.com.
