Waves GTR 2.0: Schlepp-Free Amplification Finally Arrives
May 12, 2006
You know the future has arrived when it really sounds like an amp, and you don't have to schlepp it!
Peter Denenberg, producer and engineer for Acme Studios in New York City, demonstrates the upgraded Waves GTR 2.0. Waves GTR differs from most amplifier modelers in that it includes an outboard impedance-matching direct box--smartly dubbed the "Guitar Interface"--that was developed jointly by Waves and Paul Reed Smith. The combination of the Guitar Interface and the Waves GTR software seems to make for more dynamic distortion and overdrive tones that clean up when you roll off the volume on the guitar--much like a real tube amplifier.
Waves GTR includes 10 different virtual amps and 23 different stomp-box effects, as well as a variety of virtual cabs and mics. New features on the upgraded 2.0 version include three new amps, seven new cabs, an improved tuner, octave effects, and expanded compatibility with different applications.
