Wireworks MCAT5 Multipin Network Cabling Is Heavy-Duty, Double-Jacketed Just In Time For Fall

Wireworks MCAT5 multipin-based, multichannel CAT5e Network Cabling for audio equipment

Upon first read, Wireworks MCAT5 sounds like the name of a medical exam study guide, but fortunately for us gear nerds who have far more important things to do than study for med school -- like spending all night rearranging the music studio completely and then putting everything back where it was before -- it's not. Touted as the first ever multipin-based, multichannel CAT5e Network Cabling, MCAT5 simplifies your studio's behind-the-desk cable jungle by eliminating individual cable runs and utilizing a sturdy multipin connector instead of the standard RJ45 connector. The multipin connector's rugged, point-to-point secure connection reduces the wear and tear on equipment, improves network durability, and keeps you from tripping -- great for both the personal studio and for live stage setups and touring.

According to the manufacturer, MCAT5 tails are configured to support six channels of 10 / 100 / 1000 BASE-T signals and equipment requiring four pairs per RJ45. Tails are also available to support 12 channels of 10 / 100 BASE-T utilizing cable sharing technology.

MCAT5 is constructed of heavy-duty CAT5e rated cable with a double jacketed shielded cable design. Cable sections are available in lengths up to 250 feet, with an overall diameter of about 1/2-inch. Like a garden hose filled with water, the MCAT5 weighs in at about 14 pounds per 100 feet. Wind up the cable and store it on an optional rackmount fanout.
