Bugera Amps: Behringer Makes Tube Amps?
January 29, 2008
If you want an amp with tubes in it without selling your adrenaline gland to some burnouts who've watched Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas one too many times, check this video out. Bugera amps, manufactured by Behringer, are designed in Germany and put together with parts manufactured entirely in their Chinese factories from speaker cones to coils.
The Bugera amps are based of the Fender Bassman amps and are dedicated to achieving warm tube tone.

wtf bugeras amp have
wtf bugeras amp have nothhing in common with the fender bassman. Their guitar amps for a start. Bugera have 4 amps (heads).
the 6260- modelled from a Peavey 6505
the 6262- modelled from a Peavey 6505+
the 333- modelled from a Peavey XXX
the 333XL- modelled from a Peavey JSX
bugera ARE good amps and just about the best for the money.
But fender bassman............thats bollocks.
well
I know that they are all copies of modern high gain amps but technically the guy does have a point in so far as, it is a fact that EVERY amplifier worth its salt owes its heritage to a tweed bassman if it is at all Fendery or Marshallesque in any way, but that's pushing the envelope
Bugera great tone bloody aweful reliability
I will be honest here. when I heard the 333xl and the 6262 I thought wow someone finally made a cheap amp that rocks! Then I bought one of each... The 333xl lasted all of an hour before it switched out of the channel I was playing in, into what I can only think is some kind of safety mode, where it isn't in any channel and sounds like @!$@# then after about 1-2 min it returns to clean. So, I took it back and got another, this one had pretty much the same issue though it only took about 15 min to switch out of the channel I was using. So, I heard from those that have had similar issues that the 2010 models don't have this issue but do tend to fail still. So, I decided not to reorder I now have a JSX which I am more than happy with.
As for the 6262, I got this a slightly larger dealer, it sounds almost as good as the 6505+ both are pretty noisy amps. This one eventually at it, after about 3 weeks and I simply returned it. It just went off while playing and wouldn't come back on. I have heard that people using the Bugera 1990 haven't been having this issue so it might not be a bad way to get yourself a cheap JCM 900, then again a used real 900 isn't that much either.
I would be very sure you have a good return policy if you plan on buying a Bugera. I wish that weren't the case I love the tone. But alas it is...
One more thing, generally I have heard that people who buy one of these and have it properly biased (don't trust their bias port) and change the tubes have far more success. The Bugera tubes have issues which is again a shame because they sound great.
Hope this helps someone else not have to go through what I am countless others have. If you don't believe me lookup Bugera and amp problems or shutting off or burning transformer clip. (which I forgot to mention, the 2008 333xl's have a plastic transformer clip that will eventually burn up and render the amp useless.) Pretty much get yourself a 2010 or don't bother and even then be very careful. Get it from a large dealer and make sure of your ability to return. Play it often in the first month, if it lasts you have beaten the odds and you have yourself a nice cheap all tube amp. Congrats. If you have the $$$ and are just being cheap. Don't the JSX is far less noisy the 2010's of that model seem even better than previous years it seems they did something to remove the fizziness on the pick attack. The JSX is well worth the $$$ if you like the 333xl tone.
But if you really have the $$$ get a fryette Pittbull or a marshall JCM 800 KK, or a Randall modular, or even an Egnater if you need more liquid distortion from the Engater just stick a TubeScreamer in front of it, or a TubeKing if you want to maintain all tube... The others are completely versatile on their own. Or if you really have the dough get a Bogner Uberschall, or an Engl Powerball or SE... (Orange and Diezel are overrated)
Anyway, that's my two cents...
Bugera
For everyone having a fault with bugera amps, they are relatively new on the market the first few amps were pretty dire tbf with reliability issues but now all the faults have teetered out they are amazing amps the build quality is great for a fraction of the price and they are becoming well established so use your noggins and buy one they rock ;)
