Rhodes Mark 7: Not Like A Dagger In Your Head

February 14, 2008
Rhodes Mark 7

The new Rhodes Mark 7s have some very advanced features that jell beautifully with the classic Rhodes sound. Take the vibrato, for example. It's optically based for a wider sweep range with a smooth triangular ramp. Their new MIDI system operates on infrared lights that detect how fast the keys are struck -- I'll let Jim Williams handle that one.

Finally -- and Sir Mix-A-Lot will appreciate this one -- the Rhodes Mark 7 has powered speaker bottoms. I like powered speaker bottoms, and I cannot lie.
