Rogers Drums Trailblazer And Prospector Resurrected By Yamaha
The necromancers over at Yamaha are resurrecting the Rogers Drums name with the Trailblazer and Prospector sets. These two sets reflect heavily on the year 1849, the year Joseph A. Rogers founded his firm, and the same year as the California Gold Rush.
These drum sets are prospected to be reasonably priced beginner to intermediate sets, so there's no need to have hit big in a gold rush if you want to sound like Canadian prog-rock outfit Rush. Both sets bear the Rogers Drums logos.
The Trailblazer kit was designed with intermediate players in mind as a solid, reliable, and expandable drum set. It includes suspension mounts on the toms for better sustain, and durable heavy-duty hardware including a bass drum pedal. The Trailblazer kits are thematically colored in either Bandana Red, Blacksmith Black, or Mining Pan Silver.
The Prospector is designed more for the entry-level drummer. It still features dependable and durable hardware, and the depths of the toms are built to make it easier for beginners and younger players to position. The Prospector comes in the same colors as the Trailblazer except for Mining Pan Silver.

rogers drum set
whatta farce!
I just viewed the "new" Rogers website and almost puked at what I saw wearing the revered script badge. At least when Brook Mays had the label, they offered maple shells and beavertail lugs. What Yamaha did to this brand is disgraceful, to say the least. It's now just a "kiddie" start-up grade set. If companies like Yamaha didn't have the existance of Rogers to steal ideas from (think swivel ball mounts), they wouldn't have enough quality innovation in their stuff to survive a beating from a 4th grader. The only bright spot is that guys like me who have kept and honored the REAL Rogers product will be rewarded by increase in value.
I agree whole heartedly
I was 13 or 14 yrs old I'm now 53, when i first set eyes on a Rogers kit...It was love at first sight...A beautiful red sparkle finish 5piece with what appeared like a chrome dynasonic...I did'nt really know that at the time, but it was a great looking kit..I later purchased a Ludwig kit, when i saved some money and my parents helped me out....I should have gotten the Rogers......What a "JOKE"..! I'll never buy this obommanation and insult to a good name in the history of American drums....I hope nobody buys these piece of craps, except those who think this is how they were once were, and get suckerd in.....I'll never buy any Yamaha musical product now or in the future....Peace..!
Shame
I have a 1972 Rogers Londonder V swivo-matic. I was thinking of trying to find at least a Brooks-Mays kit but I can't seem to find anything out there.
Oh well,
The "NEW & IMPROVED" YAMA-GERS" drums
As a kid of 13, I received my second set of drums "ROGERS 4 piecs", I eventually, as I got better at it got my third set...again "ROGERS 7 piece". Unfortunately, falling on hard times in the late 70's I found myself having to sell my prized of all possesions! I have since kicked myself on many occassions, but it is what it is! The new Yahama/Rogers drums are a joke considering the original drum. I would have been happier if Ludwig purchased the company! If there is any of the Rogers family left, I hope they have a contingency clause stating the original qualtiy must be kept up to "Roger's" standard. I can't understand how an American icon company that produced such a premier product would up owned by a company that is now manufacturing these drums in Taiwan...again, I would have felt better with "Made In Mexico!!"
NEW ROGERS DRUMS
I OWN A SET OF THESE DRUMS,I HAVE PLAYED BLUES FOR 20 YEARS WITH BLUES LEGENDS ,JAMES PETERSON,CASEY JONES,KILLER RAY ALLISON,W.C.CLARK,AND MANY MORE.THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE DRUMS.I PUT REMO PINSTRIPE HEADS ON,TUNED AND PLAYED.I JUST DID A STUDIO RECORDING IN CHICAGO AND THEY SOUNDED GREAT.MOST DRUM PROBLEMS COME FROM PEOPLE THAT DONT KNOW HOW TO TUNE.
rogers drums/ trailblazer
Mike, thanks for your comments on the trailblazer rogers drum kit. I have not personally heard the kit as of yet, since you are a schooled musician your opinion meant alot to me. I will take your tip obout changing the heads to remo. Since there is no live video of a demo of these drums your opinion is gold. I am happy your opinion was a positive one.
thanks, mike m.
Rogers /heads
Mike , I purchased a Trail Blazer set about 2 maybe 3 years ago , and yes change the heads , Remo PS work well , I also had to change out the snare stand , mine wobbled all over the place , other wise these drums are OK
Rogaha
..well..I'm actually thinking of buying a trail blazer kit from MF.. $400 !!! I do understand the Rogers purist's attitude regarding this.. If I do get the trail blazer, I plan to remove the Rogers script badges from all the shells and put a Yamaha logo bass drum head in place of the Rogers stock one.
Yamaha/Rogers Drums
E-Mail received today from Yamaha of America , Dated 4 April 2011 , (Yamaha corporation of America will no longer be manufacturing drums under the Rogers Brand name .)My guess is that when Yamaha rolled out Gigmaker series drums Rogers was done at Yamaha .
