Yanko Design Blockenspiel: For All The Kidz

July 02, 2008
Yanko Blockenspiel For Children

If you're a musician, this one may not be for you unless you've got a pre-schooler interested in following in your musical footsteps. Remember that wild tour a few years back? You might as well check this one out just in case you fathered any illegitimate children on the road.

Yanko Design busts out the Blockenspiel, combining the constructiveness of blocks with music. It's a modular sound toy that allows kids to play blocks independently and combine sounds by plugging these music blocks together in different combinations. Here's a picture of it in action.

Caution: Playing Blockenspiel might result in the sudden appearance of cartoons of different types of potheads

The Blockenspiel is fully interactive with computers, allowing transfer of single sounds and entire sound sets. This is good, because the rate of technology in the music world today means that most four year olds already know more about operating soft synths than you do.
