Yedey LoopDrive Lets You Play Emeril With Loops

June 17, 2008
Yedey LoopDrive

While the Loop Drive may not be the quickest way downtown in the morning, Yedey LoopDrive is the quickest way to dismantle a loop beat, rearrange it, and add some "weird" (to quote Yedey) effects to it.

LoopDrive is a (free!) plugin that is hungry for your loops. Feed it a loop and its beat-detecting enzymes will break the loop down into individual beat-synced segments that can then be rearranged using the integrated step-sequencer. Samples can even be reversed for added variety.

Once you've sufficiently butchered (in the good way) your loop, the time comes for you to layer those "weird" effects Yedey mentioned, though on closer inspection, they seem like effects that "I've seen before." There's an envelope-controlled filter, an LFO, an overdrive and a variable distortion. There seems to be some effects routing options as well as a "spread" control which is probably some stereo phase effect. Also, tempo adjust (obviously).

So go ahead and check it out for free. Or, you know, buy FL Studio 8, you conspicuous consumer, you.
