Zildjian Pitch Black Series Cymbals: A Different Kind Of Dark Cymbal
Finally, cymbals that match the color of my soul! Zildjian announces their brand new Pitch Black cymbal series -- their first ever color-coated line of cymbals. It's not really a surprising to note who Zildjian had in mind for these cymbals: rock and metal drummers.
The Pitch Black series features eight models: a 22 inch ride, a 20 inch crash-ride, 18 and 16 inch crashes, a 13 inch splash, 15 inch Mastersound hi-hats, 14-inch hi-hats and an 18 inch China.
These Pitch Black cymbals, despite their color, are still made from Zildjian's high performance Bronze 12 Alloy, chock full of enhanced tin content to enrich the sound. Coating the cymbals allows them to be both durable and eye-catching -- unless you're playing live in a dark room, where I'd imagine they'd be harder to see.
Zildjian's John Sorenson offered this comment:
"The first thing that hits you about these cymbals* is the strikingly beautiful black finish. Pure black with contrasting white Pitch Black and Zildjian logos on top of fully lathed Bronze 12 alloy. The second thing that hits you is how great they sound. The shapes and sizes we used produce the right range of tones and projection for rock. It is sort of like a one-two combination that comes out of nowhere."
Editor's Note: In Soviet Russia, cymbal hits you!
