Zildjian

Aside from occasionally pounding a nail through a cymbal to give it a little extra "something," Martin Chambers of the Pretenders does have some pretty standard needs when it comes to the metal part of the drumset. That's why he chooses Zildjian, since "they sound the best," apparently even without nails.  

Tim Morgan of Throwing Color knows the Zildjian K series cymbals are more expensive than other cymbals, but advises you to stick that crowbar in your wallet and buy them anyway.  

So what if they're the oldest company in North America. Bama Lamas drummer Charles Collings thinks the golden age of Zildjian is long past and cites his experiences with thin tones and broken crashes. I'm starting to get a sense of how he earned the nickname "The Crab."  

Adam Goodhue seems to play with half the bands in the Bay area. Among them is Aram Danesh and The Super Human Crew. He took some time to talk about the drums, cymbals and sticks he uses.  

We continue to be a captive audience to Sister Hazel Drummer Mark Trojanowski, who knows a thing or two-hundred about drums in general and Zildjian Cymbals in particular. Have you heard that tragic story of the Zildjian-brother who fled to Canada? It's the tale that inspired the miniseries The Blue and the Gray.  

Zildjian releases a new line of cymbals, the Pitch Black series, and like the name implies, the cymbals themselves are color-coated in black, and each one is forged and hammered in the fires of hell and personally inspected by Satan. Nothing leaves Zildjian's factory on the River Styx unless it passes Satan's rigorous QC.  

Darin Holthaus plays drums for The Micah Walk Band, but with his Yamaha Custom Maple Absolute set, he could really be playing for any group regardless of style. Darin uses Yamaha and Zildjian and praises their sound and versatility.  

Paul Smith plays drums for Dengue Fever, and in this interview, he talks about his Rogers Drums kit, Zildjian cymbals, and the fact that on tour, you're not always playing your own kit.  

I wouldn't call Ron Repple of the Cook County Ramblers a "rambling man." He keeps his comments about his Ludwig Accent CS Custom set with Zildjian cymbals pretty straight and to the point.
