Zoom G1J John 5 Signature Pedal: The Multieffects Pedal Satan Bought For His Kid
June 10, 2008
After hearing the types of presets that Mr. Scary dreamed up for Zoom, we were anxious to hear what kind of sounds Marilyn Manson guitarist John 5 loaded into his signature model. Owen O'Malley puts on some mental corpse-paint to prep himself for the mayhem of the Zoom G1J John 5 signature pedal, checking out some of the 40 locked presets before navigating through a list of two-character codes to show you how to edit and save your own presets.

Gearwire misses the point yet again
Perhaps it is just me, but every Gearwire video seems to miss the point. The latest example being the Zoom signature series pedals. "The first 40 patches are the artist's presets. Let's skip ahead to the user defineable patches and make some changes." They're SIGNATURE pedals! What about that?
8 minutes of video content, 7:35 of snarky commentary, dubious dial diddling, & obscure functions. "Press these two buttons and it mutes the pedal. No sound comes out." Gripping! The remaining 25 seconds is filled with a poor overview of the actual reason the product exists: The signature artists' presets.
It has occurred to me that the only thing not covered in Gearwire videos is the actual subject in the title. I'm sorry, but someone had to say it.
ok then?....
i agree with IVANT MYTIMEBACK
that didnt EVEN show any typical john 5 pre-set sounds just some really obscure rhythm tones, no bluegrass or heavey lead tones...
