Zoom ZFX Stack Package: Checking Out The Modeling Software

June 06, 2008
Zoom ZFX 2

After checking out the interface included with the Zoom ZFX Stack Package, it's time to test out the included amp emulator plugin. While it's similar in operation to any of the leading amp simulator programs, can it cut the mustard in terms of tone?

As a hint, the ZFX Stack Package also includes, for some reason, a demo version of Native Instruments Guitar Rig 3. That's almost like ordering a McDonalds combo meal and getting a free sample of Burger King fries.

ZFX STACK PACKAGE

By: doug (not verified)

I bought the ZFX package 2 months ago from my local music store. I am getting audio "crackling" constantly. It happens any time the plug-in unit is on...during recording and play-back. Is there something I can do to fix this? I even switched out the first unit with another brand new one and the problem persisted. Is there a certain setting on the control panel buffer levels that will help? The CPU is new and well equiped to run a home studio. It's a Dell. The power in my house is clean. I can't figure it out, and I can't record in my so-called studio because of this.

Any suggestions?

possible fix

By: bholland

how much RAM do you have? What sound card? My interface has a setting, a so does my DAW, for how much of the RAM buffer you are using. A higher setting usually takes care of this, but the disadvantage is that you have a higher degree of latency as you record. In that situation, I usually run the guitar direct. If this is the same problem, that's the best fix I can think of bar getting another interface or faster processor.

you have to set energy option to performance in vista and to desktop on xp, that should solve the problem

How do I record with my Zoom ZFX on Cubase LE 4 while keeping the sound of the amp and effects I'm using?
